my Essay :)

Well, this might be weird, but it's my essay that i have submitted for the essay writing competition by NICKELODEON on 14th June 2009. It's an essay about Environmental Issues, so please take a look and give feedbacks about it, thanks milkysmile

The Relation Between The Environmental Issues in Our Planet

In this 21st century, we are facing a serious environmental issue called climate change. Climate change means the change of climate or the patterns of weather in a certain place. This environmental issue can cause problems like the rise of sea level, unpredictable weathers, and the melting of ice in the poles. Climate change can be caused by the variations of sunlight intensity and human action. The sunlight intensity has increased since a hole is formed in the ozone layer. The hole is caused by the greenhouse effect that also causes global warming. The greenhouse effect is caused by greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO), and methane. To reduce the sunlight’s intensity, we have to reduce the intensity of those greenhouse gases in the air. When the heat from the sun is going to get through the atmosphere, some of the heats are reflected by the ozone layer, and when they get inside the atmosphere, some of them will be reflected back to the sun. But, if the intensity of the greenhouse gases in the air is too high, the heat will be reflected back to our earth. This is what causes global warming and climate change on earth. We already knew there is a hole in the poles’ ozone layer that is caused by the CFC (chlorofluorocarbon), which means the heat will go through to the poles. This can cause the melting of ices in the poles. If this happens, it can also cause the rise of sea levels. Besides, the animals in the poles will lose their habitat and have a chance of extinction.

There are lots of things we can do to reduce the effects of global warming. We can do small things like reducing the usage of air conditioner and refrigerator or other electronic devices, recycle our wastes, and reuse stuffs like papers, bring our own shopping bag, eat fresh foods, or become a vegetarian. One more important thing we can do is not to leave our chargers plugged on when we are not using it, because it will suck the electricity even when we don’t use them. These are great ways we can do to help protect the environment because to create items like papers, plastics, transporting foods, carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide are produced as well. Most fresh foods are produced from the local garden we could reduce the amount of pollution cause when people are transporting other preserved foods, and they contain more nutrition than the preserved ones. By reducing the usage of air conditioner and refrigerator that produces CFC, we can help to reduce the increase of the size of hole in the ozone layer. And by being a vegetarian or vegan, we can also reduce the number of methane in the air that is mostly produced by cow’s wastes.

I’ve been trying to do those stuffs. I also tried to use public transportation as well. By using public transportation we can reduce the number of vehicles on the road and reduce the pollution because vehicles produce gas substances called carbon monoxide (CO) which is the main cause of air pollution. What I’ve been seeing in most vehicles in my country is there are only 1 or two persons inside it, while a public transportation can carry more, like buses. Buses can carry 15-20 people in each. In Indonesia, currently in Jakarta, there is already a public transportation system called busway. The buses are based on routes and they have their own side of the road. It is not expensive but very comfortable. Lots of people are now using it. I hope that more people can use it to help protect the earth.

So, how do you think ? Please let me know. LY !

If they can, why can't we ?

To do something, we need a ROLE MODEL *sfx : ta-daaaaa~*, right ? milkysmile
and it would be EVEN BETTER if the role model is someone we really admire, right ?

so, here are the celebrities who already take steps to prevent global warming milkysmile

Jonathan Porritt
Natalie Portman
Robert Redford
Julia Roberts
Susan Sarandon
Sting
Arnold Schwarzenegger
Trudie Styler
Margaret Thatcher
and many more !

they have done SOOOOO MUCH to prevent global warming between their busy daily routine, so why can't we do anything ? after all, we have MORE LEISURE TIMES than those celebrities, right ? milkysmile

so, that is another more reasons for you to help prevent global warming. You'll also have to pray to God for what he gave us and ask for his blessings too. Photobucket

9 Interesting facts about GLOBAL WARMING

I just found this here, and i found it interesting so i'll share to you all (cheers for me, haha Photobucket)

  1. The leading cause of global warming is from water vapor, then carbon dioxide emissions, nitrous oxides, and chlorofluorocarbons (used in household appliances like air conditioning).
  2. Chlorofluorocarbons are expected to be eliminated and put out of use by 2030 to help slow down global warming.
  3. The biggest business sectors that are contributing to global warming are the following: Industry, Transportation, Residential, Commercial, Agriculture.
  4. Methane is the second biggest cause of greenhouse warming. Gas from cows is a big contributor to global warming.
  5. A big enough volcano eruption could cool the earth for one or two years because sulfuric acid from the explosion would combine with water vapor to form a “shield” that would reflect some sunlight away from earth. Such an eruption would be quite catastrophic, though.
  6. The coloration of aerosols (miniscule particles in the air) generally changes their relationship with the sun. Lightly colored aerosols reflect light back away from earth (as a white t-shirt) while darker aerosols generally absorb heat (as a hot asphalt road when it is sunny).
  7. Generally, wispy clouds, such as cirrus clouds, trap light and thus warm the atmosphere whilst thick clouds generally reflect sunlight.
  8. Ice/snow cover cools the earth by reflecting sunlight.
  9. Without water vapor’s effect on the atmosphere, the earth would be at below freezing temperatures.

i'm terribly shocked after i read the last fact . it's just awful ! Photobucket
that's why we should do our best and take a step ahead to prevent global warming for the sake of our family, our friends, and our self.

Global Warming Fun Pic!

Peeps, look at this !

Global warming and its effects on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia feature. Aerial view of the Great Barrier reef off the Whitsunday Islands. Based on figures from The Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics (ABARE), it is estimated by government, media and environmental activists that export coal expansion plans in Queensland would create additional global greenhouse pollution equal to 125% of Australia’s total current emissions; or the same as the CO2 pollution from 65 average sized coal-fired power stations. Australia is considered by environmental activists as one of the world’s highest per capita polluters and exports more CO2 than is emitted domestically. In 2006/7, Australia exported around 243 million tonnes (Mt), 30% of the world’s total coal exports, equal to 656 Mt of CO2! wow !!
that's what i found from Greenpeace's International Website

About Vegetarian ,

hey, i've told you about being vegetarian could reduce the effects of global warming, right ?
why ?
Global warming could be controlled if we all became vegetarians and stopped eating meat. That's the view of British physicist Alan Calverd, who thinks that giving up pork chops, lamb cutlets and chicken burgers would do more for the environment than burning less oil and gas.
well, being vegetarian are also good for our healths . milkysmile

it's not really hard to be vegetarian .i'm one of the semi vegetarians because i'm allergic to some meats. after that i realized how much advantages i got from it . now, i'm healthier and i have better body shapes than some of my friends are milkysmile

well, i'll show you some tips on how to be a vegetarian

1. think of the effects
what would happen if we don't take a step ahead to save earth from global warming .

2. varieties on menus
vegetarian meals are variative. there are lots of meals for vegetarian . we also have 'fake meats' which tastes the same as real meats . yum !

3. health effects
being a vegetarian can improve our health and our body shape. it helps us remove toxic from our body too.

as a bonus, i'll give you a recipe of VEGAN COOKIES

Look at this, peeps

hey, peeps. global warming sure's NO FUN AT ALL . it's getting really hot everyday, and so does my blog making-sweetness *gyaaa, don't step on me*
anyway,i just went on browsing and got a lil' question on my mind. do you know the effects of global warming ? NO ?! well, lemme show you :

such drought can only be caused by the rise of temperature :(
i hope it would never happen . making-sweetness

here's another one, and it's pretty scary :(

imagine ! this poor zebra is now only pieces of bones and dried skins. this is a picture before global warming is running for too long, imagine what would happen if this happen for the next 100 years ! how much souls do we have to lose to prevent it? NONE.
you can prevent this from happening for the second time by doing what i have posted before.

I have done some , how about you ?

About the blog . .

Well, i'll tell you the meaning of this blog.
the title is : talk less, act more !
what i wanted to tell you is to ACT to prevent global warming, because every single help from you is needed. imagine if every person in the world plants just one little tree on their yard, imagine how many trees we have planted? how much oxygen we can produce ? how much greenhouse gases can we absorb ? rather than persons who just TALK a lot about global warming WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING.

Next, the skin :)
the skin is green, right ?
Q: WHY DON'T YOU USE A BETTER SKIN FROM OUTSIDE BLOGGER TO MAKE THIS BLOG LOOK BETTER, IDIOT ?! Photobucket
A : hey, hey slow down. listen to me ! it's not that i can't edit the skin. *want proof ? visit my diary blog* it's just that i'm using the skin because it matches my blog's theme, GLOBAL WARMING. it's my favourite colour as well
*and i prefer simpler themes as well*

The informations provided :
I'm providing information about global warming and what to do upon it. so please beware (?) Photobucket

so, are you satisfied with that ? if you're not, gimme feedbacks please Photobucket
